Dong Thap, Tapped my Heart: An Open Letter to DThU

​

According to Google Maps, the distance from Vietnam to the Philippines is 910 miles. However, the moment I landed in Vietnam, I felt like home was closer enough to embrace me with warmth and goodness. My entire stay in Dong Thap made me feel that diversity is a tool for empowerment in terms of globalization and making ourselves acquainted with others. My collective experiences will not suffice in words to describe how happy I am to journey with them. 

 

I can still vividly remember the moment we saw each other. With our buddies, other Filipino students from different schools, and the Indonesians, we barely know each other. It was all unfamiliar and uncertain. I was initially scared since I knew I was stepping out of my comfort zone. It was my first time traveling alone and going to a place where I did not know anyone. But our buddies and the entire Dong Thap University tapped my heart and made me feel the breeze of welcoming feeling. 

 

This is an open letter to Dong Thap University as I profoundly thank the entire family for making my Vietnam journey remarkable. It was amazing that midst differences, it springs common ground for a lifetime friendship and unforgettable experiences. I can still recollect the patience of the Dong Thap International Affairs faculty in helping us adjust to normalcy in Dong Thap. From introducing us to good food to good friends. It was amazing that despite our indifferences, it made me feel that we are one, especially one in pursuit of progressive education. I am proud and honored to experience your culture and everything in between.
